What is it? : Google Docs allows you to create and save documents online and import  documents from other applications

 Benefits:  Enhance your documents with images, links drawings and collaborate with colleagues anywhere in the world. Export print and publish to the web 

How we use it: Docs is used to write the homework reports



Start by accessing google drive - drive.google.com



Hit New to create a new document


Then select Google Docs start a new document














Menus


File 


New- create a new doc

Open - Open doc from browsed location

Email - Email doc to person

Rename - Change Doc name

Move - Move to another folder/directory/location

Print - Send Doc to printer







Edit


Undo - Ctrl+Z key undo last changes

Redo - Ctrl+Y key repeat last change


Note: To select area of doc press and hold right mouse button and move mouse to area you want to select then release right mouse button


Cut - Cuts the selected text area into computers clipboard memory

Paste - Places clipboard text at location of cursor


Select All - Ctrl+A selects entire document












Find and Replace - Looks for word/phrase and will find it in document and if Replace with is populated will replace the found word with the new word entered


Text Operations

 

  • Copy/Paste (Ctrl + C and Ctrl +V)

  • Find/Replace (Ctrl + F)






Insert



Image - Allows you to insert image into doc

Table - creates a table for data

Chart - allows you to build a chart inside your doc

Headers and Footers - can be placed on each page of doc

Page Numbers - can be inserted on each page 



Format 




Text - Allows you to make select text Bold, Italic or increase font size or color

Formating Text 

  • Font 

  • FONT SIZE

  • Font color

  • BOLD

  • italic 

  • Underline

  • highlight



Align & Indent - Allows you to Justify selected text (right, center, left) Indent selected text
