There are many different types of websites including, but not limited to:

• Company Homepages

• Magazine Websites

• E-commerce Websites

• Blogs

• Portfolio Websites

• Landing Pages

• Social Media Websites

• Directory and Contact Pages

Many of the sites out there are created by teams of web developers - but for sites that don't need a lot of custom features, modern tools have made it easy to create your own site without having to learn how to program. We'll be using one of these tools - Google Sites - to create our own websites.

How this site was built

Anyone can build a site like this, thanks to the new and improved google sites. When you first start your site, you are given a home page. You can pick from variety of themes, and start creating your pages. Click on the pages tab on the right, and click on the add icon to create a new page. After creating the title, you can then click on the insert tab to start making your page. This page was created using the text box insert, and additional items such as pictures, links, and videos can be added using the upload feature. Once you are done creating your website, simply click on the publish icon on the top, and your website is ready to go. The website can be edited at any time from your google sites account.

How to get to Google Sites

• Click on the icon for an internet browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox)

• Type sites.google.com in the internet browser search bar and press enter

• Sign in to google or create an account. For help with this see the accounts page or your instructor.

a Text Box in your web page for writing commentary or descriptions

Embed URL used to put a link to point to another web page

Images  can be inserted  for displaying in your web page

Upload  allows you to upload any file from your computer

PAGES

Pages allows you to organize your web pages and build menu's for easy access

Pages can be linked to home or dragged under to create sub menus

The + button creates new pages

THEMES

Themes are the color scheme and style of web site

 

Once you are finished you Publish the site and give it a unique web address

 

 

Web sites are a collection of independent web pages

 

Google Sites allows for 4 font sizes Normal, Title, Heading, Sub-heading
